The simple way to migrate from S7M to S7A

For more that 14 years now, the S7M driver has been working in thousands of FIX and iFIX systems but meanwhile it is outdated! The user interface is old-fashioned and even the functionality is’nt up-to-date. But the main issue is the lack of the support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008. Furthermore the CP5611 PCI interface card, which is used in conjunction with the S7M driver, do not fit into the current standard PC hardware which only have PCI Express slots.

Now, if a user is enforced (due to a broken or outdated hardware or when the operating system must be upgraded) to replace its hardware and/or software he runs into a problem: The hardware (CP5611) and software (S7M) in use up to now is no longer supported by the new PC system. The solution for this problem is the combination of CIFX50E-DP Profibus/MPI interface card and the S7A driver! This migration offers the following advantages:

  • Support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 (32 and 64 bit variants)
  • The CIFX50E-DP Profibus/MPI interface card is available as PCI and PCI Express card in full size or low profile form factor.
  • The manufacturer guarantees the availability of the CIFX50E-DP cards for at least 10 years.
  • For an easy and fast conversion of the FIX/iFIX data base, the S7A driver has a S7M compatibility mode.
  • The PLC hardware and software remains unchanged.
  • Increases in efficiency, functionality and performance.

With this solution it is really easy and cost-effective to change from S7M driver to the state-of-the-art S7A driver!
